Twinkle Twinkle...

We went through to town last night to see the Christmas lights. It's become a bit of a tradition for Jake & I (I love traditions) - we pick up McDonalds coffee/hot chocolate/milkshakes and take a drive through to town. My folks join us and it's always a bit of an adventure for Jake, staying up late and all.

Each year, it seems, we say that the lights are better then the year before, but seriously, they are really great this year. Very 'Cape Town' and I highly recommend a trip through to see the lights. I hope these photos don't spoil it for anyone planning to go through...

Oh little town...

The main theme was the soccer world cup...

The nativity set against a backdrop of Table Mountain...

An aloe-type 3-D Christmas tree...

The view down Adderley Street. The traffic was mad...

This one was my favourite...

Jake with the Christmas lights...

And then he realised he was standing next to the bin...

You'd better watch out...

Builders making the soccer stadium...

When it reaches roof level, all the crackers go off...

Wow thanks for the pics. I love the lights in Cape Town, they are my favourite and I thought about them while we were checking out the lights here.
Your photos are so clear!! Bob will be impressed, he is trying to figure out his camera so he can take good ones like that.
I can't get over how big that veggie patch is. You and Jake are doing really well with it and I definitely want to do the same with Bayden - he is not mad about veggies, unless they are in a curry or pot roast.
Jake is getting so big, I love how he likes to braai with the men!
Don't feel bad about yourself because of that jerk. You did not know he was married - his reasoning sounds like he is a total $%@+ and thank goodness you figured it when you did.
Have a fantastic time at Uncle Paul's farm, we'll be thinking of you!

What amazing photographs!
From a technical standpoint, I've never been able to capture such great nighttime holiday lights photos. Brava to you!
And thanks for uploading so many for us to get a feel what the holidays are like in Cape Town!

Thanks for the comments! I put the quality of the photos down to pure pot luck. All I did was up the ISO to 500, lean against a pole and fire away. I'm still learning a lot about my camera and photography in general, but was happy with the way these turned out.
