Saturday eventually came to an end and Sunday rolled on. Jake had spent the night with Karen & Hubert, so I picked him up and we went to visit Jake's great grandfather (Papa Louis). Later, we met friends of friends at La Med in Camps Bay for lunch. They were here on holiday from Austria and one of our friends there had sent us a parcel. We had a lovely afternoon and they are really such lovely people. Jake had a ball running around with some other kids on the field in front of La Med. The weather was gorgeous (a bit windy, but nice and hot) and I got quite sunburned. La Med was busy as per the usual summer Sunday afternoon.
My friend Deusl, who's friends these are, is a wondful, funny, kind and caring guy. He's got a girlfriend who lives in Hamburg (that's 2 hours outside Vienna) and they spend most of their weekends travelling between the two cities. I met Deusl when he came to South Africa for a mutual friend's wedding back in 1999 (that's nearly 10 years ago!!). We've managed to stay in contact since then and, today, I'm proud to say that he's one of my closest friends. Since we met in 1999, I've been to Vienna twice (once with Jacques in 2001 and a second time in 2005 with my sister). Deusl's also been back to SA in 2003. He & a friend spent a couple of weeks with us at Buitenverwachting and we took them up the Garden Route for a few days. We've shared some great times together and I hope we will have plenty more good times in the future. Incidentally, he mailed me last week, inviting me to his Christmas party on 15 December. The streets of Vienna are full of Christmas markets. Deusl's a ski instructor and his parents have a cabin in the mountains somewhere, so he's always inviting me to go skiing with them. One day!!
