The school holidays have only just begun and they're over already! Jake starts the 4th and final term of grade 3 tomorrow and I can't believe that in less than 10 weeks time, the school year will be over and Jake will be moving up to senior primary. It's crazy, but this year has really gone too quickly. Jake's 3rd term report was absolutely stellar and he did SO well, I'm so very proud of how hard he's working and applying himself in class. Fingers crossed that as he moves into the senior primary and starts writing exams, he'll keep it up.
The holidays have literally given the kids 5 school days off, but I guess some break is better than none. Jake's spent the time with his cousins at my mom and dad. Jake and Corky haven't been on the best terms for the last few months (years) and it's quite exhausting to have them together. They seem to be getting over it somewhat, so long may it last...
So much has happened over the last few weeks, it's been quite crazy, but it's all fun and life is very good. It's filled with lots of laughter and happy days, so I can't complain. We were in the waterfront a few days ago with Cam and Michael.
Silly boys being silly...
Jake wasn't keen to be silly with his friends, but was quite keen to pretend to lift the mountain on his shoulders on his own...
Last week saw the weather make a definite change for the better. It's far warmer at night and the longer days are wonderful. We were able to get the kids down to the beach and Michael even had a swim...
The tide was out and we were able to walk down to the island, which Jake loves...
Jake loves scratching in the rock pools and Marius knows the island so well...
When the tide started to come back in, we headed to the main beach. Robben Island was so clear in the background, just a stone's throw away...
As usual, the kids headed for the dunes...
It always ends up rough, but they go home exhausted and happy...
Sometimes there are little scuffles between the boys, but that's just boys. They just get too over-excited sometimes. Marius was helping Jake calm down below after he got sand in his eyes...
But in 2 minutes, they're back to playing rough and having fun together again. I love it...
The kids moved to the back of the dunes, so we followed. They were playing armies and managed to get Marius involved too. He's an over-grown boy, really...

Back at the house, Michael revealed that he'd finished making his dad's scarf. His Oumie (granny) has taught him and he's been knitting away for ages...

Other than that, we braai'ed with the rest of the country on Heritage Day (aka National Braai Day). Jo and Paul invited us to join them and the weather was perfect for lazing outside in the sunshine. Bi is just too gorgeous for words - she loves it when I ask her who's the prettiest girl in the whole wide world...
She kinda steals the show at the moment...

The boys all got involved in a little game of cricket. Corks took a bat to the head, but was a very brave soldier, despite the instant purple egg on his forehead...

After Corky got hit on the head, the kids all got ice lollies. Michael chose to hide from the camera, but he was there too...

That brings you up to speed with life. I didn't take many pictures this last weekend, so these older ones will have to do for now.
