Just about done...

Where did the year go?  How is it even remotely possible that today's already 20 December?  In less than 2 weeks, we'll be hitting 2017 and it feels like 2016 has only just begun!

Jake and I have had a busy holiday so far.  We had hoped to have a few days to pretty much laze around and do very little; hopefully catch up with friends that we've seen too little of in 2016.  Life has had other plans though and we've been kept on our toes.

Jake's been on holiday for nearly 2 weeks and it's just whizzing by at an alarming rate.  Christmas is this weekend - which in itself is quite shocking.  I still have a fair amount of shopping to do - I'm usually so much better organised and I hate last minute shopping.  Jake's been a complete pain to buy for this year too.  He has everything he needs and the things he wants are expensive.  Christmas feels a little boring without all the magic in the house, so I'm glad to have Corky, Stinky and Gogga to make it a bit more exciting for all of us!  Growing up is not so much fun...

So, what are we doing for the holidays?  Well, besides hoping to spend a night camping on Friday with Jacques' folks down in Kommetjie, Jake and I have quite an adventure planned!  We were invited by friends that we don't know very well, to do the Tsitsikamma trail.  It's a 5-day trek (thankfully mostly portered) and I think I'm fairly poorly prepared for what's in stall for us, but I am really looking forward to just getting away, although I am a little worried about what to pack food-wise.  I guess we won't starve.  I hope.We are spending a couple of days before and after in Mossel Bay and Oudtshoorn, so making a nice little road-trippy holiday out of it.  Jake's never seen the Cango Caves, or any other attractions that side, so I'm looking forward to sharing it with him.  We get home just before school starts again - can you even believe that Jake's going into grade 7?  Last year of primary school.

I've got tenants moving into my house for a few days as of tomorrow and I've been enjoying spending a bit of extra money on our house.  It's time to make it better and while we have some extra money, we may as well tackle it.  I've had the garage roof repaired properly and I'm getting aluminium doors fitted in January.  I'm looking into having downlights installed and replacing internal doors.  And then there's all the photos that I need to print and hang on the walls!!  I've finished my lightroom course, so need to put it into practise.  Hoping to get some pictures online to sell in the new year too.  Oh and I'm doing more courses for work soon too.  2017 is already starting to look crazy!

Anyway, before I run out of time completely, just a note to wish everyone a very blessed festive season.  Keep safe and I hope that all your wishes and dreams come true in 2017.

Love always,
Sue
