So, my DSLR 2 Course began last week Tuesday. It's very challenging, but I'm sure that I'm going to learn a heap, so looking forward to getting there. It's already been a lot more intensive and a lot more work than DSLR 1, but I guess that's to be expected. There are only 5 of us in the class and one lady was with me for DSLR 1, so it's good to see a familiar face. My lecturer, Eugene, is beyond intelligent, so hopefully I'll learn a lot.
For this week's assignment, we had to do urban landscapes. we need to submit 5 pictures taken at different times of the day, of 2 different landscapes, to include the changes from natural to artificial light. Talk about time consuming! Jake and I spent the entire afternoon/evening at the Waterfront on Friday afternoon and were back early on Saturday to do the rest. I managed to shoot 5 different landscapes while I was there, so hopefully they'll be happy with the two scenes selected.
I'm sure tonight they'll tear them apart and tell us everything that's wrong with them. I never like being critisized, but I guess the only way to learn is to make mistakes and have them pointed out to you. One of the points I know he's not going to be happy about is that I moved my tripod to get the different scenes, so the images aren't exactly the same from one point to the next. I just honestly didn't have more time to dedicate to this. All these pictures are unedited, we're going to spend time improving them tonight...
My second scene was my favourite out of the batch, so it was quite difficult chosing the second landscape to submit. The others just felt mediocre...
And yes, I realise that the pictures above and below are the same, but I just couldn't decide whether to include the dragon boat or leave it out...
The next two pictures, specifically, are my favourites out of the entire bunch...
Below are my favourite pictures of the other 3 scenes I shot. This first one is a closer version of the scene above, I preferred to have the reflections and sky in the images...
And this one looks like the building's falling over...
And that's it. Stay posted for news of my next assignment.
Love,
Sue XXX
