A long weekend...

I am such a girl, I am missing Danie more than I ever believed possible.  Don't get me wrong, Jake and I had a lovely weekend.  Friday night was an awesome Thai dinner with my amazing girlfriends.  I ate and drank too much, but I haven't done that in a while and it was good.  Besides, I had a driver, so it had to be taken advantage of.  It just feels a little flat not seeing him...

Our weekend was pretty full, Jake slept over with my mom on Friday night, which meant that I could lie in on Saturday morning - what a treat!  Needless to say, I couldn't wait to get my grubby paws on Jake and was ready to fetch him at 9.  We met up with friends at our local mall and took the kids bowling - they each won a game, so it was perfect.  We had lunch and Jake's friend came over to play for a bit.  We had pizzas for dinner and I worked until about 10pm.  I can't wait to get this other "little" job out of the way now and I am taking full advantage of Danie not being here.  I will be finished by next Monday!!

On Sunday morning we went to watch the Chinese Grand Prix with Danie's mom.  Danie was watching in Shanghai, so it was nice to be where he was for a few moments.  It looked very warm, but smoggy on TV.  Danie said they had good seats and it sounds like they really enjoyed the day.  What an experience, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little jealous.

We had lunch with my folks and then headed home to clean and slob about, before turning in for an early night.  Sundays are my very special evenings with Jake.  We get organised early.  By 6:45, we've both showered, washed hair and cut nails.  Clothes, lunches and bags are packed and ready to go.  Before 7pm, we're both in bed with yogurts, chocolates (last night was Easter eggs) and a good book or two.  We've just finished Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and are busy with Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator (both by Roald Dahl) - both brilliant.  7:30 is Jake's bedtime, I tickle his back for a bit and then he has to go to sleep, while I read a bit more.  I love it as much as he does.

Other than that, not much news to report.  Jake starts rugby again this afternoon.  He has a new coach, who seems a lot stricter than last year's coach.  Life is hectic and we just seem to have so much on the go all the time.  Needless to say, Jake is super excited that rugby's back on again.

I've chatted to Danie a few times and lots by sms.  He's been so busy and done so much, plus he's exhausted after 24 hours travelling.  He's also picked up a bug and doesn't sound like a happy camper at the moment.  Despite being exhausted, he had a really bad night last night with a fever and got very little sleep.  Wishing more than ever that I could be there to take care of him.  Today he's also at the factory to learn about the new machine they've bought.  It's the main reason he's over there, so he just has to suck it up and get on with it.  I just hope he feels better and that he's well enough to get on the plane to fly back to me on Monday.  I can't wait to have him back where he belongs.  Fortunately, it's Monday and there's just a week to go.

Lots of love,
Sue XXX

Awww hope Danie is up and about very very soon. Interesting I also watched a bit of the grand prix and was telling my hubby Susan's Danie is watching from the stadium (is that what they call where the race is held, well you get the idea and he was like huh!! Susan? so had to explain to him a bit (quite funny trying to explain blog friends to someone who has no idea about blogs ;)

Glad you had a great weekend and Jake is back to 100%

Hope the week flies by so Danie is back before you know it!

PS: you are allowed to miss him ;;)

Hahaha - cyberbuddies! He must get with the programme ;o)

Missing Danie like mad, only half way through the trip today. 5 days down, 5 to go. Sure by next Friday I'll be ready to put him on a plane again, but for now, I'm lost!! Thank goodness for Jake and housework.

Hard to be apart - especially for such a long trip.
Hope your reunion is sweet and that Danie enjoyed his adventure!

Thanks Lee! Awful being apart, but just 4 more sleeps and a busy weekend in between. I can't wait to get my grubby little paws around his neck.

PS. He is having a tough time, has had a bug with night sweats and fevers, hasn't slept well since he got there; has missed a flight to Beijing today and is REALLY struggling with the food. I think he's looking as forward to getting home as we are to having him back!
