A swimming update...

So, it's back to swimming. For various reasons, it's been a while since I last posted about Jake's swimming. And seriously, you would not believe that the child in the pictures below is the same child!! He's absolutely loving swimming and has overcome any fears he previously had about water. It's all just clicked into place - he's like a little water baby. I love watching his classes and he seems to be learning something new every time. At the moment, he is really enjoying diving in, he loves hunting for fish at the bottom of the pool and can swim an entire length of the pool unasisted, coming up for air on his own. He's surprisingly quick in the water too. I'm really proud of how well he's doing and of what he's accomplished. It's really so exciting that he's so happy in the water again. I can't wait for summer, so that he can start enjoying our own pool. Not to mention what a relief it is to realise that my child is swimming properly and that he's very water-wise (note: not safe!). So, as usual, here are too many pictures of Jake's last lesson on Monday afternoon...

The boys line up to take to the water - I just love those little bottoms all in a row...

See, what i really mean is that I wish my bum was that tiny...

Jake's turn... Waiting to swim across the width of the pool... Floating. This is Jake's worst part of swimming, he's like a rock - just sinks...

All the boys waiting their turn. Jake, Connor, Evan & Darren. I don't know how their teacher copes with four 4-year old boys. I take my hat off to her...Jake preparing to dive in and swim a length...SPLASH... Coming up for air with his teacher reassuring him along the way... Waiting on the steps for the next task... Early backstroke - they're learning to swim with little boards first...

And that's that! Good, hey!!

Well done Jake.
Dylan is on the waiting list for swimming lessons. we have been waiting 19 months so far.
All the kids are wearing long sleeves and hats. Is that because of the sun/ cold? Do I need to buy them for Dylan?

Hey Nicky,

Thanks for the message - can't believe it's so soon till you get here!! The time is going to go so quickly now!

Jake has to wear a cap for his swimming lessons, it's one of the rules of the school. As for the cozzies, with our harsh sun, I think most parents just opt for costumes that cover up as much skin as possible. There are plenty of these costumes around at the moment, so if you need one you can get one while you're here. As long as you put lots of high factor cream on the boys, they should be fine. You're only here for a few days...

See you soon, happy packing!! xxx
