I'm bored...

Work has been so insanely busy this week and yet I'm bored today. I've got a mountain of work piling up around me (I actually can't see the surface of my desk, bar the bit around my monitor and phone). I'm exhausted and I want my bed and all I can think about is blogging, so I thought I'd better get it out of my system. Have had a good week so far and have tried not to do too much. I ended up at Blow fish last night and had a few drinks with a friend. It was heaps of fun, but I'm suffering a bit today. I'm looking forward to the long weekend ahead and, with Tuesday being a holiday, I'm just annoyed that I never actually put in for leave on Monday. Silly girl! I've got a baby shower tomorrow morning, then Jake & I are off to spend the night with friends near Botrivier. She studied with Jacques and we've just always kept in touch. It'll be good to catch up with her again - she's due to have her second baby at any minute. I'm not sure what their plans are for Saturday, but they might be going away for the rest of the weekend, which means that Jake & I will have the entire day out in the country to ourselves. I'm just hoping that it doesn't rain all day, otherwise we'll end up going to watch Shrek 3. These friends stay on a grain and sheep farm and have a 2 year old daughter, so Jake should have fun. I'm just looking forward to getting away, even though it's just one night! The rest of the weekend's looking pretty quiet, which is always a good thing! Must go do some gift shopping tonight... Other then that, Jake got his soccer ball on Sunday past, I must take a photo of him with it to put up here. He's looking after it so well and packs it away nicely when he's not playing with it, so the dogs can't eat it. The tattoo's doing well, but it's very itchy at the moment and I'm not allowed to scratch it - I'm going out of my mind! Maybe that's why I have this need to type - I need to keep my fingers busy today! Oh and before I forget, remember all the problems I had with the *&)$@ snails in Jake's fish tank? Well, I cleaned it all out and threw (I didn't know what else to do with them) them all away, except one. The fish tank is covered with eggs again and I'm going to have to clean it all out again tonight I didn't know that snails could self-reproduce!! Sis, it's disgusting. I hate snails at the best of times. I'm going to have to find a new home for the last big guy (or gal?) too. Hope everyone has a good weekend and enjoy the rain (those of you who live in Cape Town)! Lots of love xxx

Look what I did...

Morning fellow bloggers! Having quite a busy week and have been neglecting my blogging again. Anyway, found a 2 minute gap and thought I'd share a picture of my new tattoo. Had it done on Saturday and yes, it is permanent. I'm completely flawed that I actually went through with it, but I love the design and I'm really glad I went through with it! I almost changed my mind when they were getting ready to start (I stupidly looked at the needle!). It really wasn't as sore as I was expecting it to be (a friend told me he'd heard it was like having your skin pulled off) and if I think it was way more painful having my ears pierced. Thanks to my excellent yoga education, I concentrated on my breathing and allowed my mind to drift off. Now, to convince myself that I don't need another (just kidding - promise I won't!). xxx

Sick of me yet??

Well, I've finally managed to sort out uploading photos. I have got sooooo many, it was really difficult trying to decide which ones to put up. Anyway, I've just picked a few of my favourites. Life's been so busy lately (sometimes, pretty darned exciting too), I sometimes wonder when I'll ever find time just to sit and home and be bored. I've tried really hard this year to slow down on the social side of things, but haven't been too successful as yet. I long for the time when I can pick up the phone to find out if a friend wants to go for coffee. These days, it seems, I have to keep a diary just so that I don't forget when I'm doing what - it's awful. That's all from me for today. I hope that life's treating you all well and looking forward to catching up with you all soon! Lots of love, Susie xxx

Love is in the air

March saw two sets of friends getting married. The first, my ex-next-door-neighbour, Gerard van den Berg to Lora, who grew up in Australia. They had a whole entourage of family and friends, who travelled from all over the world to join in the festivities. The wedding was held at Kirstenbosch, which I always find a stunning venue for weddings. It's so peaceful and really so beautiful. Their wedding was a ginormous party; actually the entire 10 days that they were here was one big party. It was fabulous spending so much time with them. And, of course, their Australian family...
The second wedding was that of an old school friend, Keith Horton to Ally. They're both from Cape Town and live in London now. They also had family and friends that travelled from all over to join them on their special day. Their wedding was in Wellington and I spent the night in a gorgeous little guest house with a few other wedding guests. We all had breakfast together, before heading home - I felt like I'd been away for a week. I actually woke up quite early and couldn't go back to sleep. I had a massive room to myself, with a lovely en suite bathroom, so I got up and made myself some coffee, crawled back into bed with my coffee and a magazine. Got up and had a 40 minute bath - it was great to have so much time to myself to just lie and contemplate the meaning of my life!

Easter fun!

Like so many, I can't believe that Easter's come and gone already. This year is sure flying by. Jake had an absolute ball on Easter morning and spent the entire day making sure that there weren't any more eggs in the garden. Not that he was short of any. By the way, the photo of him with the wheel barrow full of eggs are the entire family's eggs and not all his! Granted, most were, but I've put the majority in the freezer for later... Joanne and Paul came through to share the action and mom made a killer breakfast for us. All I wanted to do afterwards was sleep! Hope that you all had a good Easter and that you were spoilt! For those of you on diet, well done for avoiding the chocolates, I just couldn't resist! xxx

Some older photos...

So, here they are - finally. Been having problems trying to upload these shots for days. Anyway, don't you think Jake looks like Jacques? I can't get over it. I think, because his colouring's so similar to mine at the moment, everyone just automatically says he looks like me. I do agree, to a certain extenant - there is a lot of me in him, but I love being able to see little bits of his dad shining through in between. He has the same colour hair as Jacques had at this age, where I was much blonder. I think he'll end up dark. Time will tell...
