The seven year itch...

Today should be my wedding anniversary. Jacques and I should be married for 7 years today. Funny. It's quite a long time and seems quite hard to believe that that's where we should be already. Last night we went down to the Blue Peter (no photos, it was too misty) for a couple of glasses of wine and some pizza. It was quite a surreal evening - I made the plans and only when I got there, did I realise that it was the same spot I'd been at 7 years earlier for wine and pizza with my family. Needless to say, I had to quickly recompose myself in the bathroom, before finishing off my second glass of wine on an empty stomach. Someone's looking out for me today though; I don't have a headache this morning!!

Ultimately, today's just a reflection for me of the last 7 years of my life. So much has happened and there have been so many contrasting emotions that I've faced. It's actually quite scary to think about just how much has come and gone and about how much can happen within such a short amount of time.

Today, it's impossible for me not to remember my wedding day and the deep love that Jacques and I shared. I never knew back then how quickly the "to death do us part" bit of our vows would come into effect. Would I have changed my mind then if I'd known all that I do now?? Hell no. I'd still have gone through with it. There's not a thing about it that I would have changed, except the ending. But, this isn't a perfect world and I'm not in control of everything (or anything?) that goes on around me. Plus, I wouldn't have been blessed with my adorable son then. I also can't help but wonder whether Jacques and I would ever have been affected by that proverbial seven year itch. I doubt it...

Oh, OH...

My sister and new brother-in-law have just been to my office (well, about 30 minutes ago) to deliver my brand new, super sexy Nikon D80 digital camera! I'm so excited and it's taking everything I've got not to sit and fiddle with it all day. I've got the battery on charge and Jake's with his paternal granny today, so I've got the whole afternoon to sit and play with my new toy and I can't wait!! It's been a long time since I've been this excited about anything!!!

So, Mari say's she misses Cape Town and I couldn't help thinking about her when I drove past Blaawberg Beachfront on Monday evening on my way home from a friend. The sunset was just so beautiful. Jake and I stopped the car, hopped out I took a few really bad photos with my camera especially for her. Mari, hope you enjoy, sorry it's taken me 3 days to post these... xxx

This is what I'm getting... TOMORROW!!!!

So, I phoned my sister and asked her to look in Singapore for my camera and she's buying it today and bringing it home with her tomorrow - WHOOOHOOOO! And, instead of the Nikon D60, I've gone with what I've fantasized about for almost a year and I'm getting the D80... Sexy, hey???
